PRIVACY POLICY FOR SESSIONS ACADEMY

The privacy of our site visitors, teachers and members is important to us. We created this site for use of members 13 years and older. Users under the age of 13 must have a legal guardian sign-up and be present for all lessons and classrooms. Generally, our virtual group classrooms are off-limits to children under 13 due to the chat features present on the video conferencing platform.

It is Sessions Academy’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website at “sessionsacademy.org. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting personally identifiable information you may provide us through the Website. We have adopted this privacy policy to explain what information may be collected on our Website, how we may use it, and how and when it may be disclosed to third parties. This Privacy Policy, together with the Terms and conditions posted on our Website, set forth the general rules and policies governing your use of our Website.

-Website Visitors

Sessions Academy collects non-personally-identifying information that may be made available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Sessions Academy’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Sessions Academy’s visitors use its website.

Sessions Academy also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on https://sessionsacademy.org blog posts. Sessions Academy only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below.

– Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Members and instructors interaction with Sessions Academy require that we gather certain personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Sessions Academy gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for a membership at https://sessionsacademy.org to provide a name, username, email address, city, state, zip, and instrument. They may choose to provide an Avitar for the Word Press User Profile. Also credit card and password info is created.

Registering an Account – To create an account on our site we require you to provide your name, email address, verify you are over 13, add a credit card, create a user name and provide a password. Uploading of avatars is optional. Users may check buttons for receiving newsletter, automatic renewal and accepting terms and conditions.

Video Conferencing – Each of our 6 group classrooms and all private lessons utilize video conferencing technology using the Big Blue Button and a 3rd party for storage and hosting. These classrooms capture and record the following types of personally identifiable information: Audio and video recording, webcam video and audio, chatting in the classrooms, emojis, breakout rooms for group learning, polling, sharing screens and slides, whiteboards. By participating in these group or private lessons you are agreeing to the sharing and recording of this personally identifiable information. Other Types of Information – Members may share information about themselves with other members. We retain student lists of students attending each of our group and private virtual classrooms as well as students taking prerecorded classes. We may at times send a marketing email to these lists regarding upcoming lessons. You can unsubscribe from these communications. We may also contact you to help coordinate lessons, billings, refunds and other business as needed.

Transferring Files – Each of our virtual classrooms have white-board features allowing for file transfer and computer sharing (by the moderator/presenter). Files transferred are copied and retained on our servers or that of our third party website provider. These files are not encrypted and they could be hacked or disclosed in legal proceedings.

Community Chat IM and Forums – Sessions Academy has a buddy chat system and forum features that may be made available to members at some future point. You are under no obligation to use these features and do so at your own risk. Currently forums are turned off on Sessions Academy website.

Data Security – While we make every reasonable effort to safeguard the security of our systems, we cannot guarantee the safety of any information you transmit to our company or site. We will attempt to contact you electronically should we become aware of any security systems breach so that you may take protective measures. We use a Stripe billing system which is a popular paid add- on service for our Word Press site. However, we do not keep credit card info. on our servers. Since credit card data is encrypted by our 3rd party service we do not have ability to offer guarantees  re. the safety of clients personal data and billing information.

– Children Under 13

Sessions Academy follows the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and is committed to protecting the privacy of young children. We do not knowingly collect or maintain personally identifiable information from persons under 13 years of age without the consent and permission of a parent or legal guardian. If you are under 13 please do not use the Sessions Academy site or service. New members will be asked their age at log in and advised that if they are under 13 not to continue without a guardian. We will take prompt and appropriate action to delete any information collected that personally identifies children under the age of 13. However, our billing provider may be required to retain charged/refunded billing information for legal purposes. Guardians of a child under 13 who believe their child has created a Sessions Academy Membership in violation of our policy should contact us at the contact info below or our site contact form.

– Advertisements

At this point we do not allow any external ads on our site, however cookies may still allow ad servers to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by Sessions Academy and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

– Links to External Sites

Our website may contain links to external sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy and terms and conditions of every site you visit as we have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites, products or services.

– Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

Sessions Academy discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that need to know that information to process orders. Some organizations may be located outside of the US; by using Sessions Academy’s website, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Sessions Academy will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Sessions Academy discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when Sessions Academy believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Sessions Academy, third parties or the public at large.

Communication – emails – Sessions Academy may occasionally send registered users an email to tell you about new features, or keep you up to date with what’s going on with Sessions Academy. At sign-in you will have a box to check/uncheck regarding receiving newsletters. We primarily use our blog to communicate information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Sessions Academy strives to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information. The system will automatically send out a range of emails in response to registration, password reset, membership access, lesson confirmation, and newsletter acceptance requests.

Sessions Academy uses cookies to help identify and track visitors, their usage of https://sessionsacademy.org, and their website access preferences. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described here. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, however it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

If Sessions Academy, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Sessions Academy goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party.
