Book a Private WorkshopFlutist, educator and therapeutic musician - Graduating with a Bachelor in Music degree from Arizona State University, Bonnie Schmader has made performing and teaching a life-long pursuit. In addition, she is a Certified Clinical Musician and has provided therapeutic music services at Lovelace Women's Hospital, the University of New Mexico Hospital, New Heart Wellness Center and Alliance Home Healthcare and Hospice. Bonnie also leads music, wellness and creativity workshops for children and adults in the Southwest and abroad. As a freelance performer, Bonnie plays jazz, classical and world music with several ensembles in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Colorado and Mexico. She performs regularly with The Albuquerque Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tony Cesarano Jazz Sextet, Fuego Latin Jazz Band, The Sangam Ensemble, The New Mexico Gay Mens Chorus, The Albuquerque Worldwind Quintet, and as a soloist. She is a frequent guest artist for cultural music festivals in Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico. Petroglyph National Monument Canyons of the Ancients National Monument - Colorado New Mexico State Parks, Rio Grande Nature Center Bonnie was the 2017 Artist in Residence at the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument in southwestern Colorado, where she composed, recorded and performed original music with her own soundscape field-recordings. In the fall of 2017, she traveled to the Netherlands where she was chosen to participate in Musicians Without Borders, a global music program that uses community music-making for reconciliation, healing and social change. Currently, Bonnie is the director of the La Mesa Arts Academy, which offers free art, music and dance classes for under-served children and families in Albuquerque International District.
